atelier for domestic space food, architecture and design

The International “ARCHI_Cottura” [“ArchEATecture”] Award is being launched by the “Francesco La Grassa - Architects in the Mediterranean” Foundation, the Chamber of Architects, Planners, Landscape Architects and Conservation Architects of the Province of Trapani, in collaboration with the National Institute of Sustainable Architecture (“INSA”), the town of Castellammare del Golfo and ARRITAL kitchens.

The award is sponsored by::

One of the aims of the “Atelier for Domestic Space | food, architecture and design” Award is to acknowledge and value the work of architects and designers on this particular social space, delving into the identity-related aspects pertaining to its history, its architecture and design as well as the social relations that have distinguished it. The subject of this project can be anything that is food-related, mainly the features that define social spaces for food, starting from its very appearance on earth, up to the most developed urban societies, focusing on the Mediterranean area:

• from fire to its transformation into a domestic/religious space;
• from domestic space design to mass catering;
• from literature to art;
• from traditional cooking to modern tasting habits;
• from basic needs to advanced design;
• from a static domestic space to a “moving” one, between earth, sea and sky (e.g. holiday resort, cruise ships...).
